A collaborative installation work-in-progress with artist Sophia Wheelwright, melding light, sculpture, and interactivity. Standing at 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide, the sculpture protrudes about 1 foot from the wall, inviting viewers to engage at eye level. The artwork comprises flowing shapes molded from silver-grey wire mesh, illuminated by monochromatic projections of light reflecting off water. The projections, driven by sophisticated software, respond to audio levels in the room, brightening with speech or music peaks. An infrared camera captures live video of viewers’ outlines and motions, translating them into a swarm of particles projected onto the mesh sculpture.
This intricate interplay of technology and physical form creates an immersive experience where viewers become active participants, their movements shaping the ever-evolving visual landscape. This piece invites exploration and interaction, blurring the boundaries between art and observer in a captivating fusion of light, motion, and sculptural form.
